In 1913, the administration of the Garden was transferred to the newly-created Department of Agriculture. After independence in 1968, it was placed under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture, now the Ministry of Agroindustry and Food Security. The Directors have been the Conservateurs of Forests who have managed the Garden are:<\/p>

  • Noel Rousseau BROUARD 1967 – 1969<\/li>
  • Abdool Wahad OWADALLY 1969 – 1997<\/li>
  • S.A.PAUPIAH 1997 \u2013 2006<\/li><\/ul>

    Upon the creation of the SSR Botanic Garden Trust the responsible officers have been:<\/p>

    • Chetanand Ramgoolam, Chief Executive Officer \u2013 from April 2006 to September 2012;
      Jugmohun Heerasing, Officer in Charge \u2013 from October 2012 to January 2013;<\/li>
    • Poojanraj Khurun, Officer in Charge- from February 2013 to June 2015;<\/li>
    • Premchand Tanakoor, Officer in Charge \u2013 from July 2015 to December 2020;<\/li>
    • Siambhoo Sungkur, Chief Executive Officer \u2013 from December 2020 to July 2022; and<\/li>
    • Vishnu Tezoo, Director \u2013 from October 2022 to November 2024.<\/li>
    • In January 2024, Dr. Louis Jean Claude Autrey was appointed Coordinator for the Rehabilitation Project of the Garden.<\/li><\/ul>
